Im in IRR, I need some help?

well here is a odd one for ya, I enlisted in the reserves in Sept 2002. Went to Iraq, in 04 for a year, came home, and left again for a civilian contract job in Kuwait in Oct 05. My command knew what I was doing, and I was never hiding from them, they gave me excused absence from my weekend drills, due to my employment, for the first year.
I have about 2 1/2 years left on my Army contract, and I do not want to get out of the Army. I plan on doing 30+ years. After my first year contracting, my command moved me from TPU status, to IRR. make since, im not reporting, so its easy to take me off the battle roster. So thats where I sit now.
I plan on leaving the contracting business in about 6 months, and I am wanting to know how do I get back in my unit? Will I loose rank? (Im a E-5), Will loose time in service, time in grade? Since I have been in IRR, dose this mean that I have a break in contract? What options am I entilted to for my reenlistment? I am a 89B Ammunition SGT, with BNCOC.

Most likey you'll have to see a recuiter and go through the whole process again. Probly keep your rank but your IRR time will not count towards your "time in service".

They had no basis to release you from your contract and drop you into the IRR if there was still time on your contract. An excused absence is just that...you still are holding that slot but are excused from showing up. By all right, since you are still on contract, you should be able to show up for drill immediately when you are able with the same pay-grade, TIG, and TIS that you would have had, had you never left and still been drilling over the course of the year.
