Used Car inspection done at a dealership or independent? |
I am am looking at a used car. A 01 Chevrolet Cavalier. I live in IL. It says on the dealership web site that they have a Factory Authorized Service Center, does that mean they can do an inspection on the car. What would be the "ballpark" cost on an inspection. One of my brothers friends is a car mechanic (works for a car company, i think BMW) and i think he could do it. Or my dads friend that is a mechanic and has his own business. Could he do the inspection right there on the dealership lot or would they let him use there garage? Would i be able to take the car from the dealership and drive to a mechanic's garage that is about 35 miles or 40 minutes away? I am quite sure i can can get a low rate from either my brothers friend or my dads friend, maybe even half of what the dealership would offer. Always get an independent inspection done. The dealer is trying to sell the car, so there shop is not going to give an unbiased opinion. If the car lot wants to sell the car, they will let you take it elsewhere for the inspection. If they dont, I would walk away from that dealer and not but a thing from them. A good dealer who believes in there inventory will let you take the car for an inspection. Good luck always independent check this: |
