Can social services search my home?

I got a call 03-28-2008 that the department of social services wanted to meet with my family and a worker is due to come out at 3pm 0-31-2008.

We live in North Carolina and I run a small business from my home, Computer Repair Service.

The worker said there was some concern in the community and she wished to meet with me and my family.

I was like.......sure no problem!

My question is can they search my home? Go through my private things?

Also I read that in NC if someone simply calls them and lies they still come out and they can come out everyday if they choose to do so.

I find this a little stressing, I can call and say BOB SMITH at 1234 Any St. Anytown NC is abusing his kids and the SS goes out to his home and I can repeat this process everyday.

I wouldn't cooperate with them at all. Make them get a warrant. I would also speak to a lawyer if they came up with a warrant or a valid reason. They cannot legally enter your home UNLESS you invite them in WITHOUT a warrant.

Yes they can come to your home and interview you.

There is no reason they should go through your office.

They can report you for abuse like hitting, locking them up or not feeding your kids.

I knew some one where they came in and looked in her kitchen cabinets to see if she had food because some one reported her for not feeding them properly.
They had food and she did feed them so nothing was done.

I suppose it depends on what you are reported for. if it is for hitting your kids they shouldn't go through anything.

Honestly I think there should be a law that states whoever reports you can be liable for fraud if you are using the system for personal vendettas.

Also the person who reported you (there name) should be on the report and you should have the freedom to know who reported you.
This is not the case, they hide the names of the people who report you and there is no investigation on the person who is reporting.

Only if you let them in the door.

i don,t know the laws in that state but i,d move somewhere else.
