Making money in egypt?

me and my husband are moving to egypt from england. we was wondering what jobs we could do, what would provide for our large family (5 children) and what lacks in egypt in terms of business and services. and for me i would like to teach english, is this easy and is teaching well paid.

thanks everyone, my hubby and i have stayed in cario four times in the last year, were recent reverts to islam and egypt sounds like a good starting point. we both can read and write arabic slowly lol.

Hi rukki, have you taught english before?

I taught english in a private school in Egypt, it is easy to get a job doing this if you are native English, but it would need to be in a private school, but no problem there, there are many privates schools in Egypt. You can earn good money, much better than most native Egyptian fully qualified teachers - now whilst this is not fair, it is true. This is because the owners of private schools have to offer parents something special. They like to have native english speakers in order to teach the children the correct accent and pronounciation. Parents love thier kids to be taught by native english speakers.

As for your husband, I cannot think what he could do, jobs are not in abundance in Egypt. There are many egyptians with Bachelor degrees who cannot find jobs, even with Master degrees who cannot find suitable jobs. This is because most students stay at school free (or almost free) up to degree level. But of course, this results in an abundance of over-qualified people for jobs available. If he could speak arabic then it would be easier.

If you have any queries about teaching english, I can help you, just email me.

One question, I presume neither yourself or your husband are Egyptian, so why move your 5 children to Egypt?

Good luck, I lived in Cairo for 2 years, and I loved it.

:)

I hope y'all speak arabic

first of all, if you're from england, you should be speaking proper engliszchh =]

not " we was", that's amerischan ;)

if you are going to teach english, then you should go into a private english school.

teachers are paid very well, especially if you touter students after school

english and language teachers make lots of money because they touter ;)

To the answerer above: I resent the implication that "we was" is American English.
