How do I cope with my wife leaving me?

In the space of 4 months my whole life has disintegrated. I had been suffering from depression after being diagnosed with heart failure. I had already suffered 2 heart attacks & quadruple bypass surgery all at the age of 40.
I do appreciate that it had been very hard for my wife to cope with all this, but there again, it has not been easy for me!
My wife has a quite important job within the civil service (business design) & spends days away in London. In this time she embarked on an affair with a senior work collegue & after two months I found out. She said that she asked him to "back off" to give us a chance to make a go of our marriage, which was a lie. She has now left me & I whilst I can accept this fact, I am unable to move forward. My problem is this; I still worship the ground she walks on & I love her so much that it is destroying me. She wants "to be friends" how can I be friends with someone that gives me a hard on every time I'm near her? I simply can not live without her.

aww i feel for you.what you have been through with you heart etc...and then she does this which damages your heart even more.please dont let her come and go when she wants.if you accept her now she knows she can do it again because lets face it your that smitten with her you probably would keep forgiving her.you seem a lovely man and if she loved you she would be by your side SICKNESS and in health.not galivanting around.i know you love her and it will be like youv lost an arm but you deserve better.drum this into your head YOU DESERVE BETTER.shes tagging you along incase this falls thru with the other bloke and your their to pick up the peices.please be strong and dont take no crap. xx

Yes you can live without her, and you can do much more than that. You can have a life which is YOUR OWN and is not continually curtailed by a significant other. The pain will only remain for as long as you sit around thinking about it. If you want to feel happy again you must move on and fully accetp the reality of what has recently happened to you.

Worshiping anything is a very faulty notion. It will ALWAYS let you down in the end.

Try to be around other people and keep talking. Everything will work out for you, as long as you can ACCEPT. Or you will develop an obsession and you will spiral around it 24/7. Not nice, trust me.

This is not going to be easy, but you do have to start to face it she doesnt feel the same as you. She wanting to be friend at least you still get to talk to her.
