How do I become a hospital Chief Operating Officer w/out having clinical experience or a clinical background?

I have 7 yrs healthcare experience (mostly in financial analysis); BSBA Finance, MBA & MHA degrees; have been an Administrative Intern at a US News Honor Roll academic medical center; have supervised 10 employees/FTE's in a previous role; currently work at a 400+ bed regional teaching hospital as the Business Specialist for Patient Care Services (essentially a project-directed role providing support for and gaining exposure to multiple facets of inpatient services)

If possible, I would try to start off at a small hospital. Maybe a hundred or less bed and build your credentials. Sounds like you have the right degrees and some experience. Best of luck
