Professional service companies - "fully licensed and insured"? |
My husband and I want to hire a professional tree removal service to cut down and haul away 3 big trees in our yard (in Michigan). There's 3 of these businesses that I'm considering hiring after having checked the Better Business Buraeu for any complains or warnings. All of them claim to be "fully licensed and insured", but, how can I be sure that they really ARE? Ask to see their paperwork. The State doesn't normally License Tree removal services so make them prove it. Insurance make sure they have insurance if a tree falls the wrong way and hit your house you will file against them. If they don't have insurance to 1 million dollars don't hire. Without insurance then the burdon would fall on you if someone get hurt or anything else happens, it happen on your property. Ask them to show proof ie a copy of license and insurance papers. Write down issuing agency,look upm the numbers for yourself do not take from papers bec thiose could be less than the real and call and ask or fax and ask them to confirm that licenses and insurance policies are current and what the insurance coverage is and any special stipulations. |
