What is the worst computer brand name for home consumers?

I'm just curious what popular opinion is on this issue and if a few technicians also have feedback that will also be welcome.

Issues that should be deciding factors would be:
1) product reliability
2) service
3) reasonable cost

Take into account that the products and services that companies like Dell sell to businesses are much higher quality than those sold to home consumers.

Also take into a account that some companies may have better products in one area than they do in another.

Okay, so far Gateway / Emachines is all anyone is reporting.

Has anyone had any bad experiences with any other brand names?

E-machines are notoriously bad - but I've never much cared for any brand names much.

I don't know if you're looking at desk-tops or laptops, but my sister has had good experiences getting warranty work done on her Dell laptop. I have a Toshiba laptop, but I'm an awful laptop owner and most of the wear on it could have been prevented or dealt with while it was under warranty.

In terms of desk-tops - I've always used made-from-scratch ones, so I don't really have much to say about brand names. I've had bad luck with HP desk tops.

Gateway and eMachine sells some of the worst pieces of **** I have ever seen..

Bad hard drives, power failures, motherboard issues.. stay away from those.

eMachines - a subsidiary of Gateway
