Sex industry the exploitation of men?

Ok firstly I am only referring to nations where prostitution is legalised. I'm perfectly aware of sex slaves in countries where there are underground prostitution rings. I'm also aware that there are women who need to pay their bills etc. But here it is well policed and because its legal there's no market for underground business.. (New Zealand)

The only reason I ask this is so you can enlighten me on some fundamental point i've missed. Basically what i've seen is sad, middle-aged men going to strip joints and paying just to have one of the strippers sit and talk to him.. And let's be honest they get well paid for any further services they render. At a club called mermaids they charge $200 for a half hour, of which the establishment will take a good 2 thirds yet they're still making $120 for an hours work.. so yea they must be really hard done by lol

fair comment, no one forces these sex workers to work either. yet in both cases its the use of incentives that make it exploitation, however the outcome is that the sex worker ends up with a large pile of cash and the man ends up potless and still alone

I was a sailor in California. The women there look first at your general appearance and then at your shoes and the car you drive -- very shallow and arrogant bunch of gold diggers. Getting a date is next to impossible. Are those strip joints exploitative? You bet! The girl's job is to separate the fool from his money as quickly as possible and then move on. She gets the money and he (in his hormonally driven desperation) gets frustrated and poor. Just add expensive (cheap, watered down) beer, and her task is made all that much easier.

Assuming complete legality, and both parties as being willing, if I had to call one "exploited", I would deffo call the one whose hard earned money is given to the other party in exchange of some stimulation you can easily get for free.

I would like to say no, but faced with the facts, yes it is. The sex industry exploits both men and women, the patrons and the workers. According to what you said, the establishment taking 2/3 of the pay then they are the big winners in all of this. Not that the women aren't doing too badly either. The idea of getting paid $80 to talk to someone for half an hour while topless doesn't sound like the worst case scenario. But despite all that information, are men going to stop going because they feel/know they are being exploited? Unlikely.

Just goes to prove man cannot live by sheep alone :-D
