Having a hardtime finding part-time work that will allow me to continue on with school?

I am entering a health services program that is only offered during the day with a rigid class structure that must be followed. Once I am finished, I will have my certification and state licensing so I can find work in the industry.

My current position is a full-time daytime position that has no ability to go partime. Besides my boss frowns upon people that go back to school for anything other that financial/accounting education. He had managed to make it nearly impossible for me to take night classes- that were outside of normal business hours. He always found projects that had to be done; otherwise I would get written up for insubordination.

I am looking to make a completely fresh start- If I stayed on here, the likelyhood that my education would be compromised is very high. If I do not adhear to the programs policies and attendence requirement- they will ask me to leave. This is a chance I do not want to take.

Any ligetimate ideas.....I am getting edgy.

I have to work. No option is avalible for me not to. Financial aid will help with the education side of things, but I have to qualify for it. I still have house, car and credit card payments that need to be made.

I am wondering if others out there have done this and made it work for them.

Try temp agencies, if you have friends or relatives that work in a hospital setting- use them. Networking can help you to get your foot into the door. Check with your school- see if they have any leads on jobs. Also- check into scholarships; anything to make this work.

Good Luck.

I am so sorry that your boss is making things so difficult for you. I don't want your boss' negative attitude to ruin your goals of entering in health services.

I would look for a position that is pretty much easy and will be flexible with your school schedule. I know that department stores are popular with students. With your experience you could possibly work behind the counter in customer service. I would also try your local car dealerships as a receptionist or working in the titles department (example).

Since you want to enter into the health services field, I would try and get your foot in the door with a medical establishment.....that way once you graduate you already have your foot in the door (anything from working in the cafeteria as a cashier, gift shop, cafe, etc).

Good luck to you.

Try a college or university - many hire for a lot of different jobs and will be "very" accomadating for your class schedules.

Hospitals, convenience stores, super centers, grocery stores all have evening and night time hours as well as that really early morning shift.

You could even try a factory - they are the most likely to give you really good wages. Many of them have late night shifts.

Seek only places that are open 24 hours...hospitals/ call centers/ grocery stores....just cause they are more flexible on scheduling
