How should I feel?

I have worked in retail for four years until last year, January. I started with Chili's as a server, eventually ending up as a Quality Assurance Expeditor. They told me in November that they'd like me to be a manager, and I've been working on it since. We recently acquired a new GM, who is known as the training Guru. Well, I haven't seen any of the hype.

So another manager who is around 37, about to move to another metropolitan area came in, and cut up with our GM. I over heard them talking about how the GM put his name on the line for the guy, etc.

Anyways, my rant goes around the lines of; I do a majority of their grunt work without any hesitation. I did inventory tonight (which is my ONLY night off) and asked no questions.

I'm very upset at how Chili's is taking advantage of me and my skills. I have very little responsibilities as it is, and no chances have been actively given.

Anyone know of any stellar businesses that are people oriented, food service related?

That sucks and I have been through it with Starbucks before... A lot of people don't like the 'corporate world' which is exactly what Chili's and Starbucks are.
They tell you all these 'great opportunities' but they never happen.
It's a glass ceiling; it always goes to the most popular person. It's the dark, evil corporate world and I would suggest going to a non-profit.
I work for one now and make more $$ as an executive assistant than I ever did at Starbucks. Like $7 more... At least the non-profits don't screw you like corporate companies and you are doing so much for the community! Leave the "Dry Promises" and venture out! It's worth it!

Well, I will say that you will find much better treatment with a locally owned restaurant. Look at your afluent places and try to apply as an asst manager or manger if you have the skills to handle the place on your own. these bigger corps are not usually friendly unless you do a bunch of booty kissing. You could also try places like Ruth Criss' and Morton's Steak Houses if you are looking for a corp that has a staying reputation for being in business a while.

YOU SHOULD FEEL LIKE GETTING A HIGHER EDUCATION

i like ihop a lot the ONE i went to everyone was nice and it was a nice enviornment....i dont work there but w/e and i love the awesome blossom haha with extra awesome (the office)
