Can you recommend a good music download service?

I dunno which to go with. Napster, Rhapsody, or something else.

I went from Kazaa to WinMX to Limewire to iTunes. I quit using Kazaa coz of the ads and then winmx went out of business and then I used Limewire but I noticed when I had limewire in my harddrive, even when I wasnt using it I heard a kind of humming sound coming from my computer, like a searching sound or something and I heard it when my comp was on even if I wasnt even using it!! I thought it might be spyware, and then my last restore was like 3 weeks ago and I havent downloaded limewire yet but I dont think I will coz i havent heard that sound since my restore. I think it might just be spyware from limewire, so I dont think i wanna use it anymoe.

Now i use iTunes but its .99/song but i dont really have enough money to get all the songs i want. and I was on the napster site and it says i can get unlimited downloads for a monthly fee. Is there a better altern?

Please dont recommend any free mp3 websites because even though they're good they always take me from one website to another with ever link i click and its a hastle and annoying!! I dont wanna have to do that everytime I wanna download a song. thats y i prefer an actual program.

You want free songs, a perfect program to download them with and the whole thing done your way.

Sorry, but the world doesn't work that way. You buy the songs, put up with the hassle or put up with the programs. AND you take two chances. 1) That what you're downloading isn't a virus. (You're downloading from others using the program - for good or bad - not from some "web site", and 2) That RIAA doesn't choose you as its next lawsuit defendant. (If I recall the numbers correctly, the last judgment was for just under half a million dollars - against someone who had downloaded music on the internet.)

Try mIRC - I use it to get all my music and it has been free so far - no ads, no spyware and tons of selections. It is set up kind of like a chat, but you can access music and tons of other stuff that people are sharing. Just install the IRC application and log on. The second link is for some applets that will help you search for titles and manage your downloads.

Most of the help files are pretty good, and there are plenty of nice people in any room that will help you as well. And there are rooms for just about any subject you can think of - I get all my audiobooks there, but you can find movies, music videos, mp3's and lots of other stuff. Happy hunting.
