I need some quick ideas to increase my sales?

I am managing a store where eveything is $1.00. I am in a new shopping center. It seems to be promising for the future. New businesses are coming to the area. A multi-million dollar river development is directly across the street. I need to survive until then.

Can you afford a "Buy everything for $.50" sale? Just a one day only type event? That will bring folks in to buy and see what you offer.

You have to build awareness of your store. Direct mail is very expensive. You need to do something catchy... and cost effective to draw people in.

Do you sell food items? I just saw something on television where a woman wrote a cookbook using only ingredients she purchased at a "everything's $1" store. She created gourmet dishes with these items. Perhaps you could hold an event where a cook demonstrates how to make gourmet dishes like this. You could build off of the publicity this book is already generating.

Maybe there could be other similar events.... Find a fun, interesting way to draw people into your store. Hold classes, have wine tastings w/ $1 wine and cheese. Make your store a gathering place for the community -- not just a retail outlet.
