Massage therapy for women only?

I want to have my own massage therapy business, designed as sort of a "Goddess retreat" targeted at women.

What do you think? We have wellness centers in my city for women only, and I think its kind of cool. I would really prefer to work with women only, and I'm sure my boyfriend would prefer this for me, too :)

I think it'd be fun to really have a feminine atmosphere, really cater to women- I know how to do this because I am one!

Has anyone done this or been to a massage therapy clinic like this? Thoughts?

SoUnDs.....WoNdErFuL!!!!

I love the idea!! And you know what??....I think women will LOVE the idea of a woman to woman view, and not a man touching their body. I know that when I go to have massages done, I ALWAYS request a woman. I just prefer to have women and not a man massaging my body. It's a comfort zone that I believe a lot of women have.

So...............I think the idea is spectacular!!! I wish you every succcess!!

My daughter and her hubby are about 4+ weeks pregnant! She wants a massage!! She is looking for a good woman massage therapist for "pregnant women". You might think about that area also!!!

:o)

I think it really depends on the area of your business. If you set it up in a really nice neighborhood, yes, it would do well - they like the atmosphere and it matters to them. In a less expensive neighborhood, people work hard and want to treat themselves to a massage for theraputic reasons and for overall health - they just want a good massage - cheap. good luck with your ideas - definately go for your dreams. I work hard for my money and I would be the latter - just looking for the best deal, but I also have children and don't splerge on myself very often.

There are lots of places like this starting up.

Here in the Seattle area we have a place called the Olympus Spa that is women only and they have big hot tubs to soak in (au natural!) that is a public soaking area (no men!) and a steam and sauna. There are also hot rooms you can lie down in with various effects and massage and other spa features. Their most popular is a body srub. It isn't done by massage therapists but some Korean (asian?) women.

I am not actually sure how they do get around discrimination laws. It would be something to check into.
