I have a duplex- I want to hold art classes in my empty back house/yard. What do I have to do legally?

I have a duplex. Front house and back house. I live in the front house and the person renting my back house moved out.

I would love to open up an "art center". Teaching mommy and me classes, after school classes, etc.

The teaching experience is not a problem. I did volunteer art classes at Jr. Highschools and Elementary schools, as a job, I teach preschool.

I want to know what stuff I have to go through legally to do this.

Business License?? Permits... All that stuff.

I know I can do a lot of the research myself, but If someone could point me in the right direction, that would be incredible.

You need to obtain a state license. http://homebizseo.com/50states/Californi... and a city license. The LA license department is very thorough in telling all the requirements needed.

if u wanna start as a volunteer no need to take any permission.
if u wanna start legally then go for a society registration.
