Who do I talk to for unfair business??

I have a CD store in a small but good shopping center. Pretty good since its next to a Longs and Only 99垄 store, so rent is not cheap.

A grocery store is 3 stores down and this guy sells fake pirate cds outside of it (the store ether sells the cds or they let the guy sell it for a small piece of the pie). Ether way, I don't think its fair that I have to pay for rent, origional cds, plus tax every 3 months while this guys sells fake cds a few feet from my store.

Who should I call about this? I don't think its the cops problem. Should I call the board of equalization? I tried talking to the owner of the store and his asnwer is "he dosent know who the guy is" but every time I show up, the guy just runs inside the store and somehow disapears.

talk to the manager of the shopping center...if they don't already know what's going on. if he doesn't pay rent and doesn't have a license to sell goods, then you can report it to the police. you may be able to bring a civil lawsuit against this guy too, since he's infringing on your business and selling pirated CD's, which is against the law.

contact the local police... he can be arrested for having the CD's... most certainly if he has multiple copies of pirated albums, or makes an obvious sale in front of an officer.

It IS the cops' problem.

If he is selling pirated CDs, then he is breaking several different laws, and so is anyone who is helping him.

Call the police.

First you may want to gather some proof of what he is doing.
