Canon Rebel XTi vs Canon Rebel XSi? |
I'm 17 years old and really into photography. It seems that every year I am outgrowing my camera. At the prices of digital cameras it is getting hard moneywise to keep up with the technology. I work at a camera shop but they have limited information on Digital SLRs being they are mostly a darkroom centered business. I have been looking into the Canon Rebel XTi lately and I have been thinking about purchasing it. The only thing holding me back is that Canon recently came out with a newer modle called the Canon Rebel XSi. Um I was wondering if any of you guys had either one of the cameras or know something about them to steer me in the right direction. Oh and my pricerange is $1000, i cant go higher than that. The Canon Rebel XTi is $699 and the Canon Rebel XSi is $899 so for the extra $200 i would rather get the newer one so i don't grow out of it as fast. The XSi is simply the replacement model for the XTi. It's not a step up; it just has a few extra bells & whistles (the most important of which are 2 extra megapixels and the fact that you can 'sort of' use the LCD screen on the back to compose your shots.) The XSi does NOT have extra features that you can grow into. For that, you'd have to upgrade to the next level: the Canon 40D (or the recently discontinued 30D). Megapixel wise they're the same...the only XSi has advantage over XTi is Liveview and it uses the newer sensor so it's up to you whether that's the two features you can live without to save so you can that 200 for a better lense...Personally I have the XTi...I'm very happy with it. My XSi is on preorder, and my XTi will soon be for sale. |
