How can I make up to this person?

I am in the call center business. And I received an irate caller looking for a claims rep manager. He wont give me his name or any claim #. I was really pissed off so what I did was instead of transfering the call to the manager, I transfered the caller to a mental health facility. And i listened to their conversation:

caller: are you ****'s manager
receptionist: ***** who?
caller: what do you mean *** who?
rec: im sorry sir, are you trying to call *** Mental Health
caller: what, this is not ***** anymore.
<caller hungs up>

i was really laughing hard after that, but then I felt guilty. so how am i supposed to make up to what I did?

Im sorry but I have to put *** for the actual name of the Claim's rep, the Auto insurance company im working for, and the name of the mental health facility.

hey, if i tell you where i work, you might change your insurance...

dont apologize. thats hilarious!!!!!

Great job!!!

Im in customer service too and my G_d do i wish i can send them away to a mental institution. Some ppl just wont learn that you dont get anything resolved by being an a55hole til you teach them the hard way. Dont feel bad. he probably would have done the same to you if he was in ur shoes.

Since you do not have his name or his claim#, there really isn't much you can do to make it up to him ....

You can't do anything about what has already been done. Put it behind you. My suggestion is, the next angry caller like that you get, pretend that instead of a jerk, he or she is really a sick person. Then, be as polite and compassionate as you would to someone who's ill. Try that and you will be making living ammends to the first angry guy by not repeating your behavior.

You can't really make up to the guy you did it to, so just don't do anything like that again and be more professional in future.
