Commission jobs? what do you think? please help me!!!!!?

I currently work at a place where I am really not happy. I have been here since July of 06, its a call center. I make okay money enough to pay all my bills.. but its far from home and im not happy and advancement is really bad here.. so I got an offer where the first 3 months of work will be based off of commission becaue i have to learn all parts of the marketing business and going out in the field is the first step.. and then after that i will be salaried.. so what do you think about commission jobs? have you ever done it? I know a lot of people are into that so I was thinking why not give it a shot.. after the 3months, I will be salaried at 1000 a week...which is way more than now so i think at the end it will be worth it.. what do you think?

Its a promotion marketing firm,, we promote makeup, so a lot of ladies would be interested, and the firm is expanding quickly. but im still scared because ive never done this.

In the end yeah it will be worth it but commission jobs are based off of what you sell... If you sell nothing for a week you get nothing.. depending on the product you are selling and this economy... if they can guarantee you that you can sell this product without any problems because of the situations out there then it would be nice... But double check ALL your bases..

You are unhappy where you are now so what have you got to lose? Think of all you would have to gain. About commission jobs "you get out of it what you put into it". I say go for it.

well work as a sale associate for 3 months ..... it is not as glory as most people would think, you will have to find out how you can make your " commission " because big company are tricky they use commission to motivate worker but really it is a way to convince us to work hard but get very little back. For me i had to sale an impossible amount of $$ and then i will make commission after that amount and my base pay was horrible. Lucky 2 of those months were during the holiday so i did make some nice extra cash but after that commission is pointless, so i quit.
