What do you think of a GOD centered College?-Introducing God's new Harvard?

Matthew du Mee was one of more than 2 million college-bound students in 2001 to take the Scholastic Aptitude Test, or SAT.

But he was one of only a tiny handful who received a perfect score.

Within weeks, the nation's most prestigious schools 鈥?Harvard, Yale, and Stanford among them 鈥?began courting him. Du Mee turned them all down, choosing instead a tiny new school with, at the time, fewer than 100 students, no accreditation and no name outside of homeschooling circles

Its uncommon profile 鈥?Ivy League-caliber scholastics paired with a distinctly Christian worldview 鈥?has produced graduates who are both serving and impressing people at the highest levels of government, business, media, and even secular academic institutions.

The New Yorker reported in 2005 that Patrick Henry College students have taken between one and five of the White House internships in each of the past five years 鈥?"roughly the same as Georgetown."

I think it's great and hope they continue to grow. It can be very difficult at the University level to remember that while Christians live in this world, their home is not the world. I imagine it would also be easier to stay focused on academics with fewer secular distractions available every time you turn the corner. Kudos to Matthew du Mee!!!
Blessings.

Step one of theocracy. Will you feel more secure when everyone is forced to believe what you believe?

we do not need anymore pollution in our schools

The only problem with calling it Ivy League-caliber is the fact that they are teaching many things based on outdated belief systems. Ivy League schools tend to teach based on the most current information about a given subject. There's a reason this school will never be big.

There are many theological institutions around the country that teach a full curriculum with God at the center. Patrick Henry college is not the only one around.

You don't see any connection between the Bush's choices for advisers and his choices for interns?

Here's a hint: He picks people who think exactly like him instead of taking the best candidates. It's not a coincidence that Patrick Henry students started getting internships at the exact same time Bush became president.

Bush is choosing students from a school with no accreditation as interns and you think that's a good thing?

Nothing new here... SMU, TCU, ACC,BYU...all religious colleges.

In the past 5 years, whether you got a White House internship depended more on your religious fervor than your intelligence, so that's not saying anything good about the school. Unless you think being a moronic religious zealot is a goal for which to strive.

The fact that the Bush Administration - the single worst in US history - has hired a lot of Patrick Henry grads isn't exactly a feather in their cap.

Consider the fact that since 2001, 150 graduates of Regent University - Pat Robertson's degree mill - have been hired by the Bush administration.

Take Monica Goodling, Regent grad, whom BushCo placed in the third most powerful position in the Justice Department at age 33, when she had never even prosecuted a single case herself. When she had to get a lawyer to defend her role in the Federal Prosecutor firing scandal, you think she hired a fellow alum from Regent? No - she picked somebody who went to a REAL law school.

atheist is probably more right than anything

See now, because of his religion, this kid isn't going to be the best he can be. What a shame. Poor fella.

Why? Would it just have religious classes? If so, why not just sign up for religious classes in a regular college? What about it would be different from a regular college? Unless the school force the students to go into churches or have only classes about God-which will mean no one will sign up-it's not that different from a regular one.

Ivy League-caliber yet no accreditation...I think your sources are biased.

The fact that students of a college that has strong ties to the Republican party and George W Bush has had a disproportionate number of White House interns is not something that really proves anything good about that particular school.

yeah, and the Bush administration has hired 150 lawyers from Liberty University- a 4th tier evangelical Christian law school.

White House internships weren't granted in this case because of how brilliant the kids where, but because of their religious affiliation. THATs the scary part.

I think they were created to keep young Christians from discovering the truth.

I have gone to a Catholic elementary school and I attend a Catholic high school, but I wouldn't consider going to a Catholic college. I want to be able to get out into the world and interact with people of all religions.

The main reason that I go to a Catholic high school (And yes, it was by choice) is that the public high schools in the area are not very good and I have to get a full scholarship if I am going to be going to a college anywhere.
