Are you surprised Berkeley City Council is changing their position?

-BERKELEY, Calif. 鈥? Two weeks after the Berkeley City Council called U.S. Marine Corps recruiters "uninvited and unwelcome intruders," the council is expected to reconsider its anti-Marine stance Tuesday night.-

Apparently Cal State Gov is suspending 3.3million dollars in funding as well as the feds threatening to cut 2million more in funding to Berkeley.

Apparently Code Pink and the Westboro Baptist Church, who regularly have protests at funerals of soldiers, aren't happy about it.
Apparently the Berkeley City Council gave Code Pink a parking space right in front of the Marine Recruiting Center so they could pull right up and unload their signs and impede the Marines from doing their jobs. The City even waved a noise ordinance fee so that Code Pink could be as loud as they want. Even if it interfered with other nearby businesses.

Oh just also read that the same Berkeley politicians are trying to protest building a border fence also..hrm..

It's good that Berkeley finally saw the error of their ways by rescinding that measure that would have embarassed the city and cut funds that were needed for the citizens, of which not all believe that the war in Iraq and Afghanistan is wrong.

They can say that they hate the war, dislike the US military and that's fine because of freedom of speech, but to pander and lower themselves down to the level of Code Pink and other tree hugging, trouble making anarchist liberal groups was going a step too far.

The City Council of Berkeley showed they have tons of guts and a solid backbone for what they did last night! Just joining up and agreeing with domestic terrorists like Code Pink will definitely wipe Berkeley off the map and they will just become an unincorporated area between Richmond and Oakland due to having no funds to run the city.

They'll buckle and cozy up.

5.5 million has a way of changing people. Too bad they are choosing money over principles. Even if you don't agree with them, it seems like you'd at least like consistency.

My stance on Berkeley is Boycott the City.I hope businesses pull out of Berkeley.and no I'm not surprised that the City council is changing their position on the Marine recruiting station they have every right to be there. Berkeley will protest anything just to be protesting in my opinion.

I am so glad to see Berkeley making a collective fool of itself again. The aging anti Viet Nam war hippies must be longing for the good old days. Kind of a second childhood or mid life crises. Good for them. And that they are all good democrats is rather amusing too about now, with the election and all. Watch for Madison Wisconsin to rise up and demand their share of the commie lime light. Madison banned nuclear weapons a few years back. Oh those were the good old days weren't they? I miss it.

Berkeley California was one of the prime places a returning Viet Nam veteran could go to be spit on and called nasty names back in those days. More than one Berkeley hippie had his face re-arranged by a patriot warrior, freshly returned home. Non violent idiots should never pick on a warrior. The results can be extreme.
