Is opening Internet Caf茅/Center for business worthwhile?

How many computers should I setup? I鈥檓 thinking of 10.

to be honest with you, i think the time for internet cafe is behind us. My friend started a few of them around my area, but now most of them closed shop. high speed internet is pretty cheap now, especially with wi fi being more prevalent. there is one internet cafe in our area, it's right in the mall so a lot of kids go there. i'm assuming the mall is just a nice place to be for kids. parents are more likely to drop them off at a mall. but too many places provide wi fi (borders, starbucks). to me it doesnt make sense to open a wi fi only store, unless somehow u can target college kids who needs a place to study.. but that would mean very slow times during summer and winter vaction.

also, my friend opened an internet cafe near a high school. you would think it would be a good place to open one, the problem is that you get the afterschool crowd but no night or weekend crowd.

Why don't you just have it set up for Wifi and you wont need to buy so many computers because most people will just bring their laptop computers? That would make more sense for you and you wont have to buy any computers (or a very limited number.

It depends. Make sure the demographics are right for it(not around old people) and make sure that there are times that you can constantly make money(most kids use these things and they have school). So there are many things to think about. Also, making someplace with computers is great... but almost everyone who uses one either owns one already or doesn't want to pay someone to use one.

You have to entice them to come in. Like create LAN parties for certain games, prizes, etc...

find the favourite games players play and the best way to set up the servers and workstations.
