Is a business major useless?

I want to eventually open up a business, so I want my studies to center around that. But Im also worried that a business major will be useless and I wont have anything to fall back on if my business isnt succesful. Is majoring in business useless for finding a job?

I have a communications degree--pretty much business without the accounting.

It's tough to find a job out there with this degree. If I could do it again...
1) LEARN SPANISH!! It's something a LOT of employers are looking for.
2) Get in that accounting--once again, marketable.
3) Most important--EXPERIENCE! Start to get experience ASAP.

It's great that you want to own your own business, but realize that you first have to get into the business world and figure things out first.

No, it's just cynical and narrow - begs the question of just what IS an education.

I am 10 credits away from graduating with my Business Degree. I surely do not think it is useless!!!!
My advice to you...get the Business Degree!
If you have taken any classes yet in this area then you already know that's where the $$$$ is. Unless, of course, you plan on becoming a doctor or a lawyer.

I don't take that majoring in business is a waste of time. First of all you are going to college and studying something that you have a passion for which is good. I wouldn't drop out of college to start your business until you graduate college. Second you are taking what you are learning out into the business to get some real life experience what will make you look better to companys if one day you have to go back to work for someone. My suggestion to you is the following finsih your studies at college. Get your degree from college. Start your business and if for some reason it fails and back to a company that will pay for a master degree witch will make yourself more marketable.
