Are child-entertainment centers such as Chuck E Cheeses, Discovery Zone, etc. risky businesses that often fail I wouldn't say so. There is a Chuck E. Cheese about a half hour from my house that has been open for 30 years. I can't see how it would be risky - you've always got a customer base, because people will always have kids. You've got costs for employees and food, but unless a game/machine breaks, no real merchandise to replace (other than those toys - and you have to play like $5 worth of games for a 10-cent toy, so I don't think that's an issue). I am a costume Designer in the entertainment industry and would have no idea whether a business like those you are asking about would be a good business venture or not. You should check with the stock exchange or ask an investment group like Merril Lynch what the risks would be. |
