Printer problem...help me fix this color laser please!?

My boss gave me an HP 2550l Color Laser printer which we retired from the business center of the hotel we work in when it started acting up. I鈥檓 trying to see if I can fix its problem. It does the same thing at home on my G5 that it did on the business center PC鈥檚. I downloaded the driver package from HP but that didn鈥檛 help.

It seems to print black and white pages okay, but when you try to print color, it prints one or two lines of random characters (in black and white) across the top of otherwise blank pages. It prints page after page like this without end. The only way to get it to stop is to pull the power cable.

Any ideas?

first, check to make sure the cartridge is the correct one. You will have to take it out to do that.

Then if it is the correct one, go to start click printers, choose the printer right click properties do a test page and change the settings. Sometimes trial and error is the best method.

if that still does not work, you may be out of color ink.
