Is there a recycling center where businesses donate there leftover items for schools to use as craft projects?

There used to be a recycling center in Jamaica Plain, Ma. that teachers in the Boston area could go to and get items that they could use for craft projects. I went there about 14 years ago. I'm hoping there is another site like this near where I live in Canton, Ma.
Thanks

There is in the Hull UK it is called the scrap store. Anybody involved in a social enterprise pays a very low annual fee and a low trolley charge for materials donated by local businesses. Individuals can join if they work with socially disadvantaged kids. Often magizine gifts and other unwanted stock is donated too. Great place.

Thanks bella Report It

Try the link I provided and good luck.

I work at a school as a cleaner and I understand your question.Schools are accepting all kinds of things to keep kids entertained.Ask and you will be rewarded.Giving is even better than receiving. So look in a telephone book and look under 'schools in the index.Go to each school and ask them how I can be useful for you.I do it as a cleaner.I enjoy working at different schools for several weeks to help when some employee needs time off. Ime there when I can go there and fill in to help.

If you can't find a school, you might try a local church, daycare, or non-profit organization who will be able to make use of your items. Boys & Girls clubs and the YMCA also come to mind. Most of these are non-profit entities which get their operating dollars from state and federal government grants and trust me, office and art supplies do not get the $$ in these kinds of grants.

If you have any printing companies that do like newspapers or sales ads in your area. The will have rolls of paper that they call ends or butts. If you ask they will donate some for you. It is great for kids to paint on as well as for making banners. I worked for a company in California and we did it all the time.

I know that in California there are many warehouses for teachers that you can donate all your could be craft items to. Go to lime.com and look at the part that says recycle everything and you should find the info you are looking for. Good Luck!

I live near Syracuse, NY and used to live in Cortland, NY. I know that the companies that does notebooks and bindings donate plastic to schools and daycares that could use the end of the plastic rolls that they do not use. They also allow families a roll or two. Also I know that the flower shops used to give their dried flowers that they could not sell to daycares and maybe schools. Also I know that the wood working businesses give the schools pieces of good wood and sometimes scrap wood. All you have to do is go to businesses like that and ask. They usually are willing to give knowing that kids can use these things. Also if you talk to thrift store owners you may find they are generous also for the schools. Just a heads up.

If your looking for free/low cost craft supplies, the last I knew Boston;s Children's museum still has a bulk recycled supply room on the second floor.

go to any school where they would gladly accept any and all supplies ,there they can distibute things to places where they are needed; or will hold onto till there is a need for these items.

if you live in Ontario, Canada..here is the information for schools etc..

Very Simple.....Call your local school and ask what they need !!! If there was a center it would cost money to the center to give items to the school after they were given to them for free. Let your fingers do the walking and donate !!!!!
