I was told to try applying online because it will be sent out to many different locations. I just need to know which category to choose.

To Sara c:
I am applying to be a barista, NOT a bartender. Starbucks is a coffee shop, NOT a bar.

I would say Sales.

first of all its not called a barista it is called a bartender it would most ikely be under sales or social responsibility, you might also want to get your rsa certificate which is a certificate that allows you to do that kind of work you can apply for one at the gordon institute of tafe it might cost $100 or a little more and it is a 3 day coarse, hope this helps

If your applying to be a barista, you will have better luck going into the local store in which you want to work. Dress nicely and ask to speak to the manager. Tell them you are interested in working there. If they say they are not hiring right now, ask them which local stores are and then go to those other stores. You'll have a much better chance of being hired that way. I have never received a application for a barista position from anyone who has applied online. Online applications are sent to the regional recruiters who mainly source Assistant managers and higher. The only way your application will be viewed by lots of Store Managers is if the area you live in is participating in an online application process and I'm positive those have all been cancelled. If they haven't a local SM will be able to tell you. And that application process is done through a different website than Starbucks.com.
