Corporate America? |
Does anyone else out there feel like this monster is eating everything alive! I mean how do you compete if you were a small business owner? There are shopping centers going up left and right! It's insane! I am not gonna lie, I shop at Wal-Mart and go eat at big corporate restaurants too, but being a previous small business owner I learned this the hard way... will it not stop!? Actually no. Surprising huh. Small business owners have one advantage the the big wigs don't have and that is personal service. Plus small businesses tend to give better customer service. Not only that but small businesses tend to have a unique product. Corporate America is folding slowly but surely that is why they are merging left and right and they are laying off workers because they got too big to keep up with the financing of it all. Small business owners are NOT in anyway set up for DOOM so don't worry. Who do you think supplies a lot a these corporate giants? Small business owners of course. The majority of businesses in this company are considered small. Hang in there. You have to evolve along with everyone else to keep successful. Small business owners just need to position themselves so that the big stores don't bury them. If you've looked out front of any Wal Mart, they always have a group of small stores near them that do well because they specialize in things Wal Mart doesn't. Comic shops, video game stores, pet stores, small restaurants, you name it. It's just a matter of finding your niche and exploiting it. Big companies are outsourcing. It is a goal of big companies to continue to functioning with as few assets as possible. So they hire other companies to do their payroll, manufacture the goods they sell, clean their offices etc.. They don't want to own plants and they don't want to pay benefits for employees. Because they are outsourcing everything, this creates a huge opportunity for small business to provide the services and manufacture the products that large businesses used to. |
