How much should I expect a Home Center (i.e. Lowes) to markup a countertop I make and install? |
I am researching starting a business to fabricate and install solid surface countertops. As part of this, I'm interested to better understand if selling to home centers can be a profitable part of my business. My concern is their markup on countertops is going to be ~50% or more, which would leave little room for profits for the little guy. Any perspective would be appreciated. I use to work at home depot, and stuff like cabinets did not make big profits for us. for example, our cabinets was selling for 49.99, but we only paid 45.00 - 47.00. I hope this help. i dont really understand your question but this is what i gat from it: when you are selling something, lets say the price for everything was $40. you charge double so the price for the coustomer will be $80 plus the cost of labor, that way you are making your money back plust making money with the time spent instaling it and making it. i hope this answerd your question. A fabricator can expect a kitchen dealer to mark up his countertop 10% to 30% on a usual basis. The dealer does not want to price themselves out of the ballpark.with that being said the dealer or designer will constantly pester you to lower your price and claim that there is another fabricator willing to do the job for less, maybe so but fabricating granite, quartz, or solid surface can be profitable, and you can expect to clear 30% to 50% easily on every installed job.any other way i can help or be a resource feel free to contact me. |
