Health Care solutions - Obama's Answer or ?

Obama says he wants to insure 40 million people that are not insured. He does not say what the costs will be but does say it will stop them from using emergency services for mild illnesses and they'll go to the doctor instead (as insured people).

Great I think that is great for emergency services, but what about the fact there are not enough doctors, nurses and medical centers around to handle that increase in business? Right now my father waited 12 days with a catheter (sp) to see his doctor because he was too busy to see him earlier. Its this way in other parts of the country too.

So instead of giving free insurance to 40 million people why not use that money to create more nurses, doctors and nursing assistants? Build more colleges, universities and flood the market with these people in the health care field so their wages don't have to increase 12% a year due to the lack of supply and demand. AFTER you do that - then insure those who don't have insurance at lower costs

Here's more to the Obama health plan, as described by Obama himself in the first democratic presidential debate. Summarized...Obama stipulates that the following four (4) parties will pay equally for his health plan:
1. The Federal Government
2. The State Governments
3. Employers (Business)
4. Employees (Consumers/Tax payers)

Now I ask where does the Federal Government get its money? Answer by raising taxes. Who pays those taxes? You guessed it Employers and Employees. Where do the Employers get the money to pay the taxes? It's not comming out of their profits, so they raise the cost of the products/services they offer. Where do State Governments get their money? Yep, you guessed it by collecting taxes. Who pays those taxes? Once again it's the Employer and Employee. Do you really think that the Employers are going to cut into their profits for this tax? Nope that "saving" is passed onto the consumer (tax payer). How do the Employers make money? By selling good/services to the consumer (Employees/tax payers). So who is really paying for Obama's health care plan? The hard working, tax paying American citizen. Now do you really want to pick up the tab for all the free loaders (I'm not talking about retired seniors, you know people that have actually contributed) that either don't work, pay taxes, or some combination of both? Is it "fair" to make hard working, tax paying people pay for that burden?

The funny part is a good chunk of the 40 million already qualify for government medical care and they just don't sign up for it. Many of the 40 million are illegals. Many choose to not buy it all together. The actual number is pretty small.

We'd do well to do both. Also, the insurance won't be 'free'. It will be paid for mostly by reducing the overhead of 50 different state medicade venues and probably medicare as well. Everyone will pay in something, but probably less or even far less than now. The 'cost' has been gone over dozens of times and it always comes out less expensive and provides much more coverage for more people than the current private and employer based insurance plans. I heard one of the right wing radio dopes today tearing into the 'cost' end of this argument and believe me, he was way off base. On purpose? I dunno, but I'm certain it was just more propaganda for the health insurance mafia. We could easily train more medical personnel, but here again it will take political will and government effort to do it...the private sector can't do it...if it could it would already be done.

well...that's one idea...

but the problem is... NO ONE IS PUSHING this idea...

and the other problem is... it would take 8 years to make new doctors... and by that time... the system may be in crisis mode...

but it's certainly better than doing nothing...
