Should I take this management position in a call center (Sitel)? |
I went in for my 2nd interview and I was told that I can be hired as a Team Manager on salary. I'd have to work 50 hours/wk and the job would be cake. The interviewer said I'd basically sit at a computer and baby sit the workers. The pay is about 25k/yr, from what I've heard other through other people that have worked there. No job where you are managing people is cake. Never mistake that. Just as you are showing yourself in a favorable light to your interviewer, they do the same to choice applicants. If they were there before you, you're going to have to prove yourself to them. Mangement is tough. Being salary means you'll be working 50+ hours a week, because you'll probably be doing counseling, paperwork, time cards, etc. You didn't mention pay, or benefits. If your benefits are decent and the pay is good, I'd take it. However, always be on the lookout for something better. go for it! if your schedule can handle it I say why not? Go for it! That sounds like a great oppertunity! Take it. It is a good stepping stone for your career. Almost everyone in I.T. starts in call center work. I work in I.T. Go for it! I wouldn't recommend it as a career, but it's a good temp job while you're completing your degree. A plus is that you don't have to be on the phone yourself. I say go for it as long as you are comfortable with the hours they require and the salary is acceptable to you and makes it worth the long hours. No its way too much stress. It will help get your foot in the door but its a real pain.... |
