Public Liability..... Help me....?

I only want to run a small time indoor sports business but PI insurance is a killer. Can most centers include you in their insurance if you pay them a fee or maybe use the hall on a reoccuring hiring plan? Surely there is a way to avoid paying that PI upfront myself. Thats just too heavy!

When you say sports business, do you mean selling sports items or having a business of sports where the public can be a part of? Either way, why don't you check with a local Recreation Department. They may be able to house you there or lead you in the right directions. Also you may not know but there is always grants available that maight can help you. Search under grants and you may just find your answer.

Sorry - but as an "independant" user of the center(s) you are a separate entity and cannot ride on the sport center's liability insurance....you need to get your own and yes it is a killer - but look at the alternatives....no insurance and something goes terribly wrong....- not worth the risk is it? You can also protect yourself by having every participating person sign a waiver (check with your personal insurance broker) this may be the way to go - if the user acknowledges that you have no coverage for liability and they use the premises at their own risk.....Worth a phone call I think.
