Stuck in Call Center Jobs- Need Help!?

I have a B.A. and have also completed graduate coursework in IT and Business Management. The only problem is that I have somehow "wedged" myself into call center jobs over the past 4 years after graduation. I literally cannot stand the environment, but I have had tremendous difficulty getting into any other field. It usually goes like this... I end up taking a call center job, get burned out, quit the job (last instance was a year tenure) and then end up having to take ANOTHER call center job because I cannot get anything else!
I have plenty of talent, and would be suited for a variety of different work environments, but why the heck do I have such a hard time escaping the call center? I am concerned as my resume is going to start looking like a call center, job hopping joke, and I need help. This will not fly, the older I get.

I worked at Telemarketing Jobs for over 2 years, I know the feeling. I took a lower paying job at a temp agency so that I could get that off my resume. They helped me get a job doing something else.

best idea is to look for a job while still employed.... seems like jobs come up while you have one more often than when you dont. that way you dont get stuck with yet another worthless job, and you can transition smoothly into the new job if you get one without losing time from work

You are in a much better position that you think you are. Customer service can be really challenging while you're doing it, but it's really one of the best ways to learn how companies in general do business and how to conduct yourself in business.

Consider using your customer service background as a launching pad to analyst-type positions in Marketing or even in Finance.

In these analyst positions, you will do things like quantify the success of various marketing campaigns, help IT determine what kinds of data need to be stored in the database/data warehouse, determine which customers bring in the most profit, etc... Lots of really fun things!

Look for jobs like with the word "analyst" in the title, e.g., Data Analyst, Marketing Analyst, Business Analyst. The Business Analyst jobs generally require many years of experience, but job titles are often used loosely, so be sure to check those out as well.

Your graduate course-work in IT will serve you well in these analyst roles, as they often require at least a general working knowledge of databases and data retrieval. (If you know SQL at all, that will be an additional feather in your cap.)
