Reliance Fresh- chain of stores is it morally correct to allow such ventures which reduces jobs for poor?

Reliance group of Mukesh Ambani wants to open vegetable shops? He wants to create more unemplyed by taking away jobs of poor vegetable vendors. He is sitting on billions and wants to rob the poor vegetable vendors of their livlihood. Can he not do something better which creates more jobs rather than jobs which only poor small vendors cam do? Is government not acting irresponibly by allowing such ventures whic is bound to create more social dicord. At Ranchi, in area which shot bed for Naxalites, Relaince shop is stoned. Is not the writing on the wall- encoraging hapless poor to join Naxalies since rich are taking away their livlihood.

Should not governments at center and state not stop such business licences which give rich the "Licence to kill the poor"?

It is morally wrong on part of governments and big business house at large not to push the poor to corner whereby they loose their livelihood. This will surely back fire in the way Ranchi store was stoned and more is bound to come of the same kind. These vendors who have lost their source of income may turn to Naxalites and do more harm in future than what we have seen so far.

For Government at Centre and State, it is their moral duty not to allow such ventures and even if they have allowed, revoke their licences in light of greater harm it can bring to society. Also if more such stores are being planned, governments in their respective state, should disallow such ventures.

For Mr Ambani: Why are you doing this? Do not create discord in society by lopsided ventures.

You want to help farmers? Why not work on the BiFuel project in which Jatropha plant seeds are used to produce the BioFuel. Surely it is in line of expertise of petroleum products. Poor farmers in Chattisgarh are waiting for buyers of their Jatropha plant seeds to be used for production of BioDiesel.

greed is good, capitalism, supply and demand, never heard of this? When was the last time a poor broke person employed someone. It is the entrepreneur, who creates wealth and jobs.

well, here in America its called free enterprise...united we stand...how is it where your at?

Here we have to think in two angles.

Chain Market's side

* All the cost acquired by the vendors is not accounted against tax. So, govt, will be much interested in these types of chain stores for the reasons 1) Quality, 2) Standard, 3) Accountability, 3) employment (even though the street vendors are in business, they will be termed as unemployed)

Poor Vendors Side

* Since they found any other opportuinity, they have selected this business and running their life without much profit. I wonder, no vendor has much elevated in their life status (exceptions allowed). These type of chain markets employ 10 people at the max and replacing 40 vendors of that area.

Public side (we)

* Even though we are getting varieties of item from Chain markets and termed as fresh, is not really fresh. They are refrigerated and it loses most of its taste as well the energy stored.

So, it is we to decide where to continue.*

It's called free enterprise. To tell someone they cannot throw their money at their dream is not the American way.
What you are suggesting is socialism. Socialism stifles society and eventually, -actually quite quickly- creates two groups. Those who have everything and those who have nothing. When I say nothing, I'm not saying less; I'm saying nothing at all.

Their is nothing illegal however similar distribution mechanism should be promoted by the government through cooperatives, disability welfare organisations, for war widows and those who come from the weaker sections.

In all cases the small and medium farmers are the worst affected: because of the retail market there are many families winning their bread: It is bad to allow this kind of stores in India: if they purchase and sell it in Foreign countries we can appreciate:
But anyhow if
(1)the farmers unwilling to give the product to reliance, how they will get success
(2) The public avoiding to go the reliance shops
definitely they will go without telling

Reliance Fresh would [purchase agricultural products from the farmers direct. Farmers would get remunerative prices. Besides consumers can buy at competitive price. This will avoid middle men who reap profit at the cost of consumers and farmers. There are employment opportunities to the poor vendors. Actually this is the handiwork of the middlemen who wish to keep the poor always poor.

Dont know whether it correct or not. But for a change the vegetable vendor who had been fleecing the public is being given competition.
As far a i see no vegetable vendor will loose their livelyhood. At the most not more than 5% of the public goes to the ambanis shop as not all are staying near these shops. And at the in which our population is increasing this 5% deviation is neglegable. These vegetale vendors are just making a hue and cry for nothing.
In fact now They will also become competetive and give you better service and be more courtious. Just think about the way the vegetabe vendors used to speak to us when we went to their shop? They were treating the buyers very rudely, especially when there was demand. We go to the market that is usually very dirty and unhygenic. Now these markets will start becoming cleaner and the vegetable vendor more disciplined, curtious and customer friendly, because of which all will be happy.

I can't agree with your view that the Reliance Fresh will take away jobs of poor vegetable vendors. The target group of Reliance Fresh and that of Vegetable vendors is entirely different.

Thank you .India is not going in the right path. When Mamta was forcing the Govt.not to share with the agricultural land to TATA, what state and central Govt did.In the earlier years what Mr.Chidambaram did for the Industry,he has allowed all Samll scale sector to do Tiny Sector activities, all large scale sectors were allowed to do small scale sectors business there by,all tiny sector stranded.Since it is an independant nation you cannot stop those fellows to in starting all bloody vegetable shops, the public should boycot those shops, but with public today the have the software money in their hand ,so they never boycot anything, gradually we are going back to 1600 AD, were other country people ruled us ,but today the capitalist will rule the country as a whole and the Sttae and Central Govt.will be pupetts in the hands of Anil/Sunil Ambani,Bajaj,Tata,Maran and other Money crocodils.

The ventures like this are not going to enhance the wealth of the country or progress of the country significantly. On the contrary the social harmony of the country is getting affected by such new ventures of big business houses . The big industrialists like Ambanis should therefore concentrate only on big industries and big businesses which the small vendors and shopkeepers cannot do and should not enter into the areas of shopkeepers and poor sabjiwalas as this will affect the social hormony , maintainance of which is the prime neccessity in the prevailing conditions in the country for unhindered devlopment.

Whether it is Reliance or any other group, don't you think that such ventures provide employment ? Right from the farmers who supply the produce (who are assured of a buyer of their vegetables at market rates) to the transportation and distribution supply, to the huge number of employees in the supermarkets / vegetable shops? In Mumbai, some supermarket chains employ erstwhile "bhaji wala's" to man the vegetable / fruit counters in their stores, are these people are well skilled at fresh produce sales ! Naxalites and other such groups should be encouraged to support such ventures where they could have an outlet to sell agricultural and forest produce. Any venture that can generate jobs and have a boomerang effect on the economy ought to be encouraged, as long as environmental norms and fair labour practices are adhered to.
