They are illegal (which means they are breaking the law) and they are suing a US business!!!

BOSTON (Reuters) - Workers including 361 illegal immigrants were cheated of hundreds of thousands of dollars in overtime pay at a factory at the center of a high-profile raid in Massachusetts, according to a lawsuit filed on Tuesday.
The class-action lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Boston on behalf of 500 workers, follows a raid by federal immigration agents on March 6 that drew criticism of the Bush administration's immigration policy and brought national attention to the perils facing undocumented workers. I think that any left sided liberal lawyer that would take a case like this just goes to show you the bleeding heart mess that this country has become. You have 361 ILLEGAL immigrants
who got jilted out of the pay they should never have been granted to begin with and I'm supposed to feel sorry for them?
No thank you! The word ILLEGAL seems to get lost here.
These people had no right to be here, therefore they have no business being paid ILLEGAL money. The owner of the factory is responsible for bringing in these ILLEGAL aliens, so they are liable. This is unfair the the actual LEGAL citizens of this country who were just doing their jobs.
If the U.S. government raided this business because they found 361 ILLEGAL immigrants inside where they had no business in the first place then good for the U.S. government in at least attempting to make an effort to rid us of these ILLEGAL workers. Let's have more raids. Let's get these ILLEGAL people back into their country.
If some judge is going to embarass himself and accept this lawsuit as legitimate, then only the LEGAL citizens are eligible to receive any payment in the judgment of the case.
If you are ILLEGAL and do not belong here and you don't pay any taxes like the LEGAL citizens of the United States of
America pay, and you have paid nothing while living here ILLEGALLY, then you are entitled to exactly NOTHING.
They come over here, have babies who automatically become citizens, then get deported and cry about having to leave their kids here. Well, did they ever consider that when they were coming over OUR borders ILLEGALLY? NO!!!
So, why should I care about them? They break the law everyday they stay here. I don't break the law. I pay my taxes. Is that fair to me and others like me? NO!!! If you want to be a citizen, stand in line like every other person who comes here and follows the rules.
Just because we welcome immigrants here doesn't mean they should be allowed to take advantage of a weak border security system and invade our country. Go through the system like everyone else or stay home.
This is just another in the long line of liberal ambulance chasing lawyers who want to get their hands on a cash cow situation like the ever popular immigration situation. Each and everyday there is some lawyer screwing the innocent out of his or her livlihood to keep their filthy pockets lined with cash. It's no wonder lawyers get such a bad reputation in this country. Case and point. It's always about the money.
I say the ILLEGAL's get NOTHING except a free bus ride back to Mexico. How in the world can an illegal person sue a country they are breaking the law in.Geesh.Why am I surprised. And they will probable get it too. It's fair. Just because they've been exploited once (by paying them too little) is no reason for them to get stiffed on their check altogether. Shouldn't the employer bear some responsibility (or only the benefit)? I think that there is no such thing as an "illegal" person. I want secure open borders... "secure" and "open" ... but hey, I'm a capitalist who wants to pay people three cents an hour to work...
...but back to your question...
The 14th Amendment to the Constitution requires it "No state shall... deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." This applies to citizens and non-citizens alike. Weird, but it could work. The best way to get something done about the problem of illegals is through the companies that employ them. This is a non-governmental action, which is preferable, in my opinion, to government action on employers. THE US CITIZENS HAVE A CASE.
ILLEGALS DON'T.
THEY SHOULD ALL GO BACK TO MEXICO AND APPLY TO COME HERE PROPERLY. the company should be sued to crap. they hired the illegals so its all there fault. This is exactly what they thought they would be protected from by hiring illegals but i guess it backfired on them. If no work is available maybe they'll all go back to mexico, so this company needs to be made into an example. I think you should be ashamed of hiring these illegals and paying them **** to get around the US wage laws. If it weren't for traitors like you, they wouldn't be over-running our Country. They should all be forced back to Mexico as a matter of Law and you should be sent with them.
America needs to protect it's borders or we will perish as a nation, regardless of what the "love everybody" crowd says. I think your question should be this:
Why did these businesses hire illegal immigrants in the first place? If businesses in this country wouldn't try to screw American citizens over trying to make a buck, then this wouldn't be happening. Had they not been breaking our laws, they wouldn't have been in this situation. They should NOT be allowed to sue in our courts. I also don't think employers should be allowed to priofit because they also broke the law when they heried these people. I think to money in question should be divided between us. My senior thesis covered this topic so I am very fluent in this issue. Let me give you the overall summary of what I concluded.
Immigration is a huge part of American history. Essentially we are all immigrants, except for the Native Americans. Back in the early 1900s when we had an influx of Jewish, German, and Irish migration, people were saying the exact same thing about them as we do to undocumented people today.
On an economic perspective, there is actually an increase in the Gross Domestic Product for states that have a higher influx of immigrants. As for social programs, authors such as Douglass Massey and George Borjas have concluded that immigrants are extremely less likely to accept programs such as welfare or public assistance. In addition, foreign born immigrants are also less likely to be incarcerated than that of someone who is a resident citizen of the U.S. In addition, these new undocumented workers are paying tax dollars (federal, state, social security, county, etc) and they don't collect. Even more so, these new influx of workers have helped put into a social security system that right now is failing and won't be there for when it's time for us to collect.
Immigration is just a cycle of life, after these new immigrants (Mexican immigrants) become absorbed into society, the trend will be to find another culture/groups to ostracize.
Remember what the statue of liberty says and what immigrants first saw when they sailed to the U.S.
: "Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" -Statue of Liberty First of all they shouldn't have been working illegals, there are laws against this where you can be fined or jailed for this practice. The legal workers deservse their overtime the illegals should be fined their overtime Good.
Its illegal to hire illegals. That company was promoting illegal immigration by hiring illegal immigrants.
*plays the violin* Deporting illegals is nothing new!It used to be done everyday so why are the illegals acting like it's a new thing and we as Americans are breaking the law by rightfully sending them back where they belong?
They are breaking the law just by being here they can't demand ANYTHING!
And the class action lawsuit scumbag attorneys should be deported as well to Siberia where they'll freeze their as*#s off and get what they deserve for legally robbing legitimate business owners of their hard earned money.
But then that's what the business owners get for employing illegals in the first place and selling out America's legal working citizens just to save a buck.
You reap what you sow people.
So if you own a business and want to save money breaking the law by employing illegal aliens should not be an option or even a consideration.
But suing business owners because they were deported and didn't get their last pay check or whatever their suing for is just ridiculous. Hurray for them. Why isn't the business owner in JAIL for violating federal hiring practices? People seem to forget that those who HIRE illegal aliens are breaking the law, too. I say "good for them". If the government won't crack down on the largest part of the problem (people who give them jobs), then I applaud them for taking the law into their own hands even if, in doing so, they are "shooting themselves in the foot".
No one can hire 361 illegal immigrants without doing it willfully. So, the company willfully and knowingly violated the law. Why are you throwing your support behind this business? I, personally, think it should be the GOVERNMENT who is suing the company for violating wage laws and for falsifying taxes.
I don't think the illegals are entitled to get more than they have already gotten. I DO think, however, that the company should be fined into extinction. If we want to stop illegal immigration in this country, we need to go after the root of the problem - the people who hire them. If there were no jobs for them, they wouldn't be flooding across the border to work.
If you shop at or support ANY company that hires illegals, you are part of the problem, not part of the solution. In this case, the company's largest customer was the federal government.
Nuff said... Just logging in to give a thumbs-up to Stolworthy's answer.
Straightforward, precise and lacking any of the colored language so common in most of the other responses. Are you defending a company that made hundreds of thousands of dollars in illegal profits by hiring illegal aliens and cheating them out of overtime pay? When US businesses break the law, that's also ILLEGAL. They should not only be sued but prosecuted. |
