Why Are Liberals So Intent On Forcing Their Views On Everybody Else?

It seems that the liberals have little else to do other than bash the President, the Republican Party, and the way the U.S handles business as a whole. Every time I try to enter into a conversation centered around politics, the first thing I hear is that Bush is a failure, and that he's bringing the country down with the "War on Terror". It seems to me that the liberals are also upset that the President is also guided by his faith, and stands by his principles, whether popular or not. Hmmm... I'm trying to see how that can be construed as a bad thing. Lincoln was guided by his principles, and his anti-slavery stance was very unpopular at the time. Carter (the Democrats dream) was also a man of principle (and bad President) but the Dems worship these two. Can someone explain why people are devoting webspace to bashing the President? Thanks in advance for any answers I receive. I'll be awarding the best answer to a well-thought out answer, even if I don't share your opinion.

I don't think all liberals do. I consider myself moderate leaning toward liberal but I don't expect the world to agree with me and I know I don't have all the answers. I think stubborn arrogant people try to force their views on the rest of the world and those people are found on both ends of the political spectrum and everywhere in between. Open minded liberals do exist and will listen to opinions different than their own.

We don't do it any more than conservatives. Think about Rush Limbaugh, he makes a living of liberal bashing, especially when democrats are in power.

It's the same on both sides. What did Republicans do after reconstruction to help blacks--or during the next 110 years?

Lincoln was never really anti-slavery, he just didn't want the country to break apart. And he was a republican. When your principles are damaging the country, why should you stick by them?

I only find bashing useful when I have facts to back it up.

Why do people have webspace devoted to bashing liberals?

You can't generalize like that. I don't force my views on anyone. I express my opinion, that's it. If you listen to it, fine. If not, whatever.

My biggest problem with GW is that he hid behind Daddy's money to get out of going to war himself.

Guided by principles is one thing. Guided by faith is another. This is not a theocracy. He took an oath to uphold & protect the Constitution, not his religious beliefs. If he wanted to run things based on his religious beliefs, he should have become a minister instead.

You want to know why people devote webspace to bashing GW? It's easy - because they can. And honestly, even if you don't agree with their opinions, you should be ready to defend their right to express them.

Lastly, I'd just like to add...only 732 days, 22 hours and 12 minutes until the nightmare ends. Not that I'm counting, mind you. ;)

I think the Republicans are just feeling a little snippy because after 6 years of doing whatever they wanted they are now in the back seat are likely to be held to account for their management of the country over the past six years. Realistically speaking it stands to reason that if you enter into a conversation about politics the conversaton would turn to the President's actions and those of his congress. The country was run for six years by a Republican President, a Republican House and a Republican Senate. Anything and everything that went wrong happened on their watch. That's not bias, it's a fact.

As far as the Liberals worshipping Carter even though he was a bad President, you have it wrong. I don't believe anyone is worshipping Carter for his presidency but they are admiring him and giving him props for the Statesman he has become since he LEFT office.

It appears when people lack solutions to problems, they still want to be heard so they attack the the person who IS, offering an idea, offering a solution, trying to do something.

As for people being upset with someone following their faith? It is the same conflict that has been going on since Satan rebelled. It's satan against God for the hearts and minds, souls of people. Some will disagree with this statement, BUT IT'S TRUE! The battle continues.

Lincoln being anti slavery? I see as a good thing.

Carter I applaud for the Habitat for Humanity program. But hold him in contempt for a lot of other ideas and statements he has put forward.

Bottom line. People want to be heard, and have a right to. It's just I think in the process of wanting to disagree and be heard, Love and compassion are easily forgotten.

From my perspective (socially liberal, fiscally conservative GOPer), both extremes are crazy about forcing their opinions on others. I'm no great fan of Clinton, but there was a time when the GOP hatred of him was insane. I'm guessing that most people feel like they can actually persuade others who think differently to their side of the issues. Sadly, the most rabid only attract other crazies, they are not likely to influence or persuade others who may be on the fence.

Conservatives love to wrap themselves in the flag and claim they are so patriotic yet how many are off in Iraq fighting the war? He you oppose anything that conservatives support you are call unAmerican and need to leave the country. What happen to freedom of Speech?

When it comes to religion the Religious Right seeks to instill and push it rights upon the majority they are ones who claim there is gay agenda being forced upon schools and children.

Conservatives claim they are less government but seek to spend each waking hour dealing with personal lives of American citizens.

Lincoln refused to pay the blacks that fought for the North as much as the whites; how does this make him principled? Also, the Civil War wasn't about whether or not people should have slaves. It was about the fact that the North wanted to count black people as whole people for tax purposes, but for voting purposes (population for congressional seats) they wanted them to count as 1/3 of a person. So, the South tried to leave the United States. The issue of owning slaves was only brought into the war because the Queen of England was planning to assist the South and then the North pointed out the ownership of slaves in the South (even though there were still slaves in the north) and the Queen (who was opposed to slavery) decided not to help the South.

So... maybe us liberals push our opinions because they're based on historical fact rather than the fiction conservatives try to force down our throats.
