Am I too late to go to college?

I am 21. And after I graduated from college I opened a boutique. I had it for about 3 years, I closed it, because the shopping center in that area just died. I did really good at the boutique until all the businesses began to close.
I want to move and start a carreer, but I have no idea what I want to do! I am lost, guess. I have enough money to move am have rent for a few months, but I know I will have to get a job asap. I don;t even know where I want to move for sure, I just don't want to be working in the "family" business for the rest of my life, like I am doing now.

I don't know anyone where I live now, even though I had that boutique. I don't have any friends at all. All i have is my mom, dad and sister. How sad is that?

I am really lost about everything, I just don't know what to do. But I just hate where I live now. Everything about this town sucks, the only thing I like is my house and family

Maybe I want to meet friends or do something w/ my life.

Any advise?

I am approaching 40 and I too have to go back...

I put it off every day because I am just intimidated as hell and scared really... I hate not measuring up and today's youth are really brilliant. It is a lot to live up to.

I will go back. But until then, it is a dream.

My job that I trained for and worked toward for over 10 years, has recently become obsolete. There are only a few positions left for hundreds and thousands of people all looking for these jobs.

I really have to go... I'm with you on this one!

But I don't worry about friends or interactions with people... The thoughts of that, to me, are actually hindrances, not incentives.

I'm 41 years old and headed to classes next week. I'll say you're not to old. :)

never too late to go to school

Learning late is not something wrong, ok. It means you are real serious about it.

I was in a situation very similar to yours. While I was trying to figure out what to do after closing my place, I went back to college at 27 years old and waited tables. Finally I was so fed up with the little rat-hole of a town I lived in, I moved and sold my house. Best thing I ever did.

And those classes I took padded my resume nicely.

My mom finished her B.A. when she was 53. She went on to grad school in anthropology and loved every minute. Good luck!

You need to real think all of your issues out before you do anything. All of your above issues are all very stressful. Moving, change jobs, going back to school. Maybe you should decide which one is the most priority for you.

I would suggest that you go and talk to a career counselor at your local college for some insight on your options.

I do not know what state you live in, not there is the 'One Stop Center', they are located all over the United States. They have everything pertaining to employment. Workshops, computer classes, job bulletins, resources counselors, resume writing, interviewing practice, college programs, on the job training, and more. All of their resources are free-

In trying to decide what you want to do with your life, think about what you really enjoy and try to find a job or education in that area. If you have to work everyday, it's better if it's something you like!

I just finished my Bachelor's degree in 2005 at age 39 so I don't think you're too old to go back to college. It is better if you can finish school before you get married and/or have kids.

as for shortage of people you know try volunteering look in paper for open meetings try a few a couple of times you chose friend or no.

Go, go, go back to school! Start with a community college if you like, it's not as expensive as a university, easy to be accepted, will allow you the time to get back into the swing of things, and take whatever you like until you hit on something that you love. If there's one in your city/town, start there until you get your bearings. You'll make new friends and you can tap the advisory department for suggestions and guidance. If you need financial aid, see the financial aid advisers. I'll post a link below for you for FAFSA, it's the Free Application for Federal Student Aid which you can apply for online, it's simple. They'll advise you of financial aid and grants you may be eligible for. Take the first step, don't waste time, you can be back in school for summer classes. Don't worry about your age, lots of people don't start college right out of high school and you certainly will not feel out of place, there will be lots of students older than you. You say you have no friends were you live. The customers at your recently closed boutique should had been a nice place to meet friends. What happened? Are you a friendly person? Do you socialize?
To be a friend you must become a friend. There are many people who seek friendship, but are judge mental about being a friend.
We all become lost in this walk of life. There are many who once lost their way. I am one of those lost ones. And i am still finding my lost ways.
