Structurally Deficient Bridges... Trying to get an answer?

Structurally Deficient Bridges: It doesn't mean the bridge is cracked. It means standards have gone up and these bridges are lower than the standard or something.

A 40 year-old bridge isn't old...

The construction they were doing wasn't like severe. They were removing and putting back on pavement, something like that...

And they say they won't have the answer about why the bridge collapsed until about a year from now.

Terrorists - in other countries - will target small businesses, bridges, etc..., so they don't try and attack all the "World Trade Centers..."

OK, anyway, this was so sudden. How can they not "suspect" terrorism??? I am just so...

You make some good issues to resolve. They will. It takes time to analyze the failure points and come to a conclusion.

Using Metallurgical failure analysis, they will be able to determine almost exactly where it failed first, how long it took to fail, and whether or not it should have been known earlier.

All bridges must be inspected by state inspectors at regular frequencies. They will know who, what, where, and when. Just give them some time.

Hey the pridge that fell only 30 minutes away from my home, has had many reports since 1990 the most recent one that as reported was 2005. They have been told that the bridge could collapse. But only the people who worked on the brindge thought they did every thing they could to stop the bridge from going down. The bridge was under construction. I think that if it was a attack the bridge would have been GONE with in a matter of minutes. Becasue if it was an attack there would have been a bomb or somthing. Many are saying that the bridge has been breaking little by little every day.

if it was terrorism then there most likey have been an explosion. Or it may have been a terrorist using a jackhammer like people heard(only heard a jackhammer). But it is unlikely for there not to be an explosion. Gov may not want us to know if it was, it could cause panic

There's probably more than just one reason for this, but terrorism is not likely to be one of them. It's been a while, but I recall reading more than just once about how our roads and bridges all over the U.S. are in desperate need of upgrading. There really wasn't anything sudden about it all, the info about the bridge's condition was just not really made available to the general public.

This bridge was actually being worked on at the time. Which means bridge was not at its 100% capacity. And if you look at its design it has very long clearance and no support in the middle. It is free standing arch bridge with peculiarly long span.

It is treated as crime scene and they already dispatched investigators and engineers who investigate this sort of things for living. They're not idiots. If they see signs of foul play they'll say something.

Attacks like 9/11 cause people to think irrationally. That's what terrorists want you to do. They want you to be scared and make decisions based on fear and not rational thoughts/reasons. Like that decision to go to Iraq.


And usually terrorist like to take credit for their work. Or make it known that it is their work. What's the point if al Qaida caused this, but make it look like structural failure??? Entire point of terror attack is to make people be afraid of specific group or organization. Al Quida wouldn't do this and just hide out. At least someone will make a video tape or take credit on websites if it was planned attack.

They wouldn't plan something big like this and just make people wonder. If it is attack by al Qaida or someone else they will make it known clearly that it was their plan.

It's waste of attack to remain anonymous.

that just doesn't make any sense... why didn't they just send a suicide bomber into a elementary school or a house full of cute puppies? or they could go to the store and start denting all the cans of food so we can have MORE food recalls...

if it was terrorism, it was a horrible job... because i'm not scared, and neither is anyone i've talked to... maybe if it were the golden gate or a big one in NY... but not in MN....
