Does anyone work in child care and have their child with them?

Hello! I am almost 12 weeks pregnant and work in a business setting. I can't handle the thought of having my child away in child care while I work. My thought is that I would like to work in a child care center and have my child there with me. Does anyone have an experience working in a day care center with their child? Could you tell me about the experience, the pay and the child care discount you receive? Also, did anyone apply for the job while they are pregnant? Any feedback would be wonderful!!

Thanks!

I also couldn't handle the thought of my children with anyone else other than me. So I decided to quit and stay home with my kids. At the time we were in a small apartment and we could afford to live on my husband's salary. And it just happens that a neighbor was pregnant with her 2nd and wanted to go back to work so I offered to babysit for her and she went to work 4 weeks after the birth. Ages ago I used to nanny in other peoples' homes and then having my kids and having someone drop their kids off at my home was so much better. I liked it so much, we've bought a house just so I can open my own child care. I decide how much to charge, what days I want to be open, my hours, how many children I think I can handle at a time, what food to serve them, etc.
This way you are actually raising your children rather than working in someone else's child care and having them take your child to another class and not even letting you see them til your shift is over. It's not that hard to get a license, just alot of paperwork. Or you can try just one child first. You don't need a license to care for one child(or one family). Good luck...

A couple of years ago I decided I wanted to go back to work, but didn't want to leave my kids. One was 2 and the other was 3. Well, I got the 3 year old class so my 2 year old son had to be in another class. At first I thought it would be okay b/c I thought I'd get to see him a lot. But I was wrong. I ended up having to try not to see him b/c it upset him so bad. He hated it and didn't understand why I was in the building and he couldn't come with me. It was awful. The pay was horrible and totally not worth it. They did give he half off the daycare costs for my kids so I paid $300/mo for the both of them. I only did it for about 2 or 3 months and went back to being a sahm. I just couldn't handle taking my son where he wasn't happy. It may have just been the daycare I was at though. It could work out for you if you could get in your baby's class. good luck.

I am a nanny and will have my child with me when I go back after summer break. (I nanny for a school teacher.) I got the job and then go pregnant (after asking if they would mind if I had a child with me). They are very supportive of this and understand completely.

I was working at a fast food restaurant and decided to put my child in daycare. I switched to a night shift and took on a daytime job as a child care teacher at my son's daycare. I thought this was great, I would get to see him more, we'll grow together, etc. The daycare would not let me work in the same room as my son b/c they said I would devote all my time to him and him only and I was not able to see him as much b/c it would distract him. I quit after a month. Those 2 year olds are nothin' nice.

hi,i gave up my job and became a registered childminder and i love it!!i'm there all the time for my kids, don't need cover for school hols, sickness etc,my kids always have someone to play with and i firmly believe that they have definately benefited from having other kids around-they never get bored and are very sociable, confident kids.the money is pretty good.and best of all,my kids tell me they love me being at home!! i couldn't imagine going to work for someone else-being your own boss is great - and plan on doing this job for many years to come.
