Is anyone else against the proposed alcohol ban in Pacific Beach and Mission Beach?

Has anyone else heard of the PB Town Council trying to ban alcohol on our local beaches? The PB Town Council doesn't even represent who lives in the community and is full of a whole bunch of old hypocrites with too much time on their hands. San Diego is the last place on the entire West Coast that still allows alcohol and it's beaches and it helps contribute to our economy and tourism, not to mention how it's a part of our beach culture in San Diego. And even some of our local businesses support the ban for greed; TYPHOON SALOON is supporting the ban b/c they want more business to come there way. I suggest anyone who enjoys drinking a six pack on the sand attend a public hearing this Monday at 6:30pm at the Santa Clara Rec Center and speak out against this ridiculous proposal. Come on people, we need to save these freedoms that make living in SD so great.

There are plenty of beaches that don't allow alcohol so I don't see why we need to ban it at all beaches.

For people like Joe S you can go to La Jolla or any North County beach and not have to worry about that. And there is a way you can control those that drink too much; the POLICE! We pay taxes and that's what they are there for. The vast majority hold their own and never cause trouble.

Why do a small group of people, those that get too drunk and those want to turn PB/MB into La Jolla, have to ruin it for the rest of us?

I totally agree with you, I used to live in OB and I would get mad when changes were made by people who did not live there! If you don't live there you do not have to put up with it. There are a lot of responsible people that drink on the beach (I would be one of them). We used to love to go to PB and have a cold one before a long day of surfing. More communties need to united together, it is your tax money and you need to decied how to spend it. Also look at the ammount of money that these beaches bring in for the surronding businesses. I understand that some of the business are in it for greed (for the record I do not like Typhoon Saloon way over priced and bad service) but, it is up to the people who live in the community to make their voices heard. In the end the people should have the biggest say they are the ones trhat have to live there. I really hope the bad does on go through, yes it is drinking but, it is part of those beaches culture and it would be a shame to change them.

Papa Joe down there has bought into the myths that all of the ban advocates pump out there. The broken glass he's talking about: glass is illegal on the beach and the lifeguards rigorously enforce that law all day long. Check your facts, pal. Unfortunately there is no such freedom that alows you to be a drunken fool on the strand. Unless you can find a way to control the consumption of alcohol by those that dont know when to stop and ruin a great day at the beach for all around them, then you stop the consumption for all. Underage drinking, fights, foul language, just the kind of thing for a family day at the beach. Then you take into account the county resources wasted on these fools, police, lifegauards, ambulances, ER visits, property damage, garbage and broken glass to be cleaned up, I cant wait till the ban takes effect.

I believe it says something if everyone else has banned alcohol at beaches. I feel that the police has better things to do than to monitor people on the beach because some feel like they have to be drunken fools. You don't need alcohol on the beach.

I think it's awful...when summer comes around it's so much fun to go out there with your friends or family, have a nice bomb-fire, swim, chill and have a few drinks. I think it's ridiculous but that's the price we pay for the people who act a fool around us...too bad.

I think there are several people who are totally against this, I mean really why change it now, how stupid.

NE is not boring! WE ARE NOT FLAT EITHER! I HAVE BEEN TO PLACES WORSE THAN NE AND FYI I HATED THEM ALL!
