What to do with educational materials?

I have been working with children for years. In that time I have accumulated many teaching materials. I am about to change careers, and need to liquidate my materials. Since I was in the education business, I would like someone to get use out of them instead of just sitting in a storage center. I could donate the materials, however I spent a lot of time and effort (and money) in collecting my items. Any ideas on how to get this stuff moving? :D

I would put them on Ebay - I see (and buy!) lots of educational materials on Ebay - I am in my last year of college to become a primary teacher so I am trying to build up my collection. Good luck!

Also, if you know of a university that has an education program in your area you could call them and ask that they give out your information to their students - I know that a graduating student would probably love to get their hands on your collection. As an alternative you could see if any teachers in your field are being hired new this year and might be interested in your materials. Put the word out to your fellow teachers and the school librarian about what you have and the price you think you want for it. I bet you can sell it very quickly through word of mouth!

Ebay or list them in your local newspaper. Have a garage sale and advertise that it's school supplies.

I work in the education department while I'm in grad school in a university, we have numerous bulletin boards advertising jobs, educational materials, further education and such for students that are finishing up. It wouldn't be a bad idea to see if your local universities had any such bulletin boards and if they would allow you to put up some information on the stuff you have.

Ebay is good; you might also look into donating to the school library of your choice..or to a really good friend/ coworker. Another option: have a yardsale on your school campus, if allowed. Or, send flyers to local schools with a list of items for sale, then teachers can call you if interested.
