My father is being held by immigration. What else can i do?

Before i ask my question i do not need any smart *** comments and please keep them to yourself. My father is 60 years old and a diabetic, he was born in Mexico but became a Canadian citizen about 20 years ago. He has been living in the U.S. for the last 6 years or so and has a landscaping business. He got pulled over with him and his workers about 3 days ago(in Phoenix, Arizona) and the other workers already got deported back to Mexico, but he is still detained, and now they will send him to Florence, Az where there is another immigration center and the Pen. I believe if we prove he is Canadian they will let him go, but what else can be done? He is not young for crying out loud, why are they keeping him? What can i do? I am in the U.S. as well.I know here has overstayed his visit here in the U.S. shouldnt he be deported by now? Why keep him so long?

He should be in jail. Hiring illegals is illegal.

Thanks to everyone who was sensitive in this case, and my father is coming out and since he entered legally he will get a permit. Yes its a miracle, he was held 2 weeks but it turned out better. So i guess you can all start whining about the U.S. government now, but he is free and got papers, lol. Report It

Call Jose Bracamonte an attorney in Phoenix. He deals mainly with immigration matters. If he is not in, ask for Frances she is his right hand. They may be trying to verify his citizenship, but just to be sure get a lawyer.

if you said he's a canadian resident, you should hurry up and submit this proofs to this people, cause the fact that they switch him to another detention center means that they are ready to send him back to mexico like they did with a very friend of mine, get this papers, and God help you and you father.

Why not just provide his Canadian citizenship, and be done with it,

Is it considered a smart answer to tell you what you don't want to hear? He was in this country illegally and when you do things that are illegal and show an arrogant disregard for the law, you are treated as a criminal, as you should be. Illegal aliens have been working the system for almost half a century, now the only thing you can do is sit back and watch the system work. Hahahahha they're finally getting what's been coming to them!

you need to make sure he has his medicine for his diabetes, i am not sure if they will provide any to him. they are keeping him longer because he has a buisness, there is probly more paperwork involved in it. i hope he makes it out of there alive, and i am sorry that you have to go through this. there are similar true life stories on the link i list. they might help you feel better about this and understand it better. also i think they have links to immigration lawyers, they might be able to help.if i were you i would find out exactly where they will send him and make sure that you or another family member is there to help take care of him. good luck! :)

If he is truly a legal Canadian citizen, you should contact the Canadian Embassy in the USA and see if they can help. If he is not a legal Canadian citizen, then I think he will be going back to Mexico. I don't think 3 days is an unreasonable length of time for him to be detained. As someone else said, he was doing a business, also illegally, and that likely requires more paperwork than if it was just himself working illegally in the country.

You really need to get him a immigration lawyer, maybe the problem is about him running a business while he is in the country illegally and not paying his taxes. If he is deported to Mexico, you can take his papers to Mexico and have he fly back to Canada

i believe he is still considered an illegal alien and with him hiring 3 other illegals to work for him can cause him to be in jail for awhile. He will end up going to see a judge and thats who will decide if they will deport him or detain him any longer. U can contact a lawyer for him or the court will assign him one. The problem with immigration is that they will move them to different states. I am sorry that this happened to ur dad but really there isnt anything u can do besides contacting a lawyer.
