Boston College graduate student - where to live?

I will attend BC in the fall of 2007 as a graduate business student. I have never been to Boston or anywhere near the vicinity.

As of now, I will be on a tight budget, and would like all utilities included. I鈥檝e searched online and found some places that offer great deals, but they have longer commute times. I would like to be in the center of something...nightlife, activities, etc.

I'm in the process of saving money for the sole purpose of higher living expenses.

Any suggestions for neighborhoods? Apartments? Condos? House for rent?

The previous answers are very good. You may want to check out craigslist or boston.com for rentals based upon the cities/towns that other individuals listed.

I think you'd be better off finding a home apartment. People tend to rent out three decker homes each level much cheaper than apartment buildings. Try Allston or Brighton. It's pretty close to BC, and you'll find a good amount of young people, stuff to do, etc. and probably some fairly good deals (as far as life in Boston goes, anyway!)

Plenty of rental property in Chestnut Hill, Newton. Allston/Brighton is definitely cheaper, but a total student ghetto. It's noisy there, and there is more petty crime than by BC. If nightlife is the most important thing to you, then maybe A/B is the way to go... The Green Line runs from there to BC. I think you're going to have trouble finding what you want at your price AND great nightlife.. Prime locations cost more $$$.

Good luck.

newton or brookline(chesnut hill or needham?or brighton?)... more students that go 2 BC live in brookline there r soooo many apartments and stuff in brookline but newton is closer 2 BC since BC is IN newton... but newton is a very expensive place 2 live in... but there are trains so 2 get u 2 BC from brookline not that BC is very far from brookline...
