Did I do the right thing in dealing with this narcissist?

About a month ago at work, I had an encounter with a really self centered coworker. I was asking the manager about a job related task and because I said something wrong, this individual started laughing even though the situation was none of her business. Well, even before this incident, this coworker had been getting on my nerves for a couple of weeks because of her big mouth. One time I had asked her to help me with a job related task and she made a big deal out of it and started running her mouth to the head manager about how I couldn't do everything. the head manager then said to her in reference to me "that's not the program" meaning because I had simply asked her to help me out since I was busy, that that wasn't the program. That was the last straw for me with her. So like a week after she ran her mouth to the manager, thats when the laughing incident happened and I got sarcastic with her about it. I was very irritated by her.

I can totally relate. She sounds like a trouble-maker. Ignore her the best you can.

I think the best thing you can do with a narcissist is ignore them, no matter how irritating they are. They like attention, and thrive on pushing other people's buttons. If I were you, I'd act like she didn't even exist.

well.. I don't think she's a narcissist first of all... usually narcissist whine a lot because they think they are owed something because they do everything or some crap like that... she's just a spoiled brat. And just act better than her and don't let her get to you.. and when she says something to bother you.. say something in a very calm voice that puts her in her place...it will drive her freaking crazy that she cant' get to you

I totally agree with Crisco-Eater, just ignore this woman. If you have to communicate with her about work related things, then do that, but keep it as brief as possible.
