Lots of great shows in Chicago. Have a look at this site to find out anything about any Broadway style show in Chicago ...

Once you see a show you like Google the address and see about shopping. Enjoy!!

Yes they do , just not on Broadway.

Yes, right now we have shows like Wicked, Jersey Boys, etc. But we also have amazing theatre that's not Broadway at places like the Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre and About Face Theatre. You should check any of these local companies out.

You should definitely go see Wicked!! GREAT show!!
There are tons of things to do where you are!! There is a lot of great shopping on Michigan Avenue and that is not far from where you will be staying. Have fun!

yes, they have something called "Broadway In Chicago" and they get the stuff like "The Color Purple", "Wicked", etc. sometimes they get the plays BEFORE they go to Broadway. I saw "The Producers" before it went to Broadway.

but I would also suggest that you pick up some of the local publications like Time Out Chicago or The Chicago Reader and look for some of the smaller local productions like those at The Steppenwolf Theater or the Goodman theater or any of the smaller theaters. Sometimes they are much better than the big stage stuff (which mostly consists of musicals). The smallers theaters are easier to get tickets to, are usually cheaper and sometimes are better. For instance, there is a play called "The Sparrow" that is currently playing here that has gotten so much buzz that it's heading to NYC. Likewise another play that started here called "August:Osage County" is also going to NYC now.

The big shows are fine, but there's nothing like discovering something at a smaller theater that's great. Look at the publications I mentioned (or view them on line) and see if there is something that interests you.

As far as shopping, there are no specific shopping centers near the Sears Tower but just walk over to State street. There are a lot of stores there. If you're there on the weekend, some of them might be closed, though. You can also head over to Michigan Ave.
