Please tell me how to go about selling my song lyrics?

I am a very good song writer/singer with an excellent voice.But I don't know anyone in the business. I've written some material, that I think are smashing hits. Everyone is always saying how good I am. I don't have to be fonrt and center, but I would really like to sell my songs. I've heard about Taxi. Are they any good?
How to go about copyrighting and that sought of thing?
Any advice would be greately appreciated.
