Basketball positioning dilema?

ok so i am gonnaa start with a story here. I started playing basketball in 7th grade and i played sg/ sf my whole life i set 2 school records, ft % 88% lifetime and fg% 66% lifetime. So one day the coach from the high school i go to came to scout me at a game he talked to me after and said i was 100 % gonna be the starting sf on the jv team and maybe come off the bench as a sg on varsity. well about a month before try outs the coach decides he wants to go into business so he leaves and they gire a new coach 2 days before try outs. so the first day i felt as though i asserted myself as a sf but the guy wanted me to play center due to the fact i was so tall compared to all the other kids that tried out. so instead of him choosing me he didnt cuz i couldnt play his position
its ok though cuz the varsity coach got him fired cuz he didnt choose me and the jv team only won one game hahahahah karma.


but my questions are if this happens again what can i do from going to a sg/ sf to a pf

i am 6'1 150 very fast and all that **** but how do i improve on the stuff that centers and pf's have to do?

At 6'1", 150 pounds, you are going to have a difficult time handling the physical level of inside play of a power forward. You need to get to a gym **immediately, and put on some muscle, in your upper body, legs, and core.

For reference, I used to be 6'1", 165 pounds, and it was nearly impossible for me to play inside - I didn't have the strength necessary to post up or box out. I added 15 pounds of muscle, and now I am strong enough to handle most inside play.

Sounds like you just learned a big life lesson, THINGS DO ALWAYS GO YOUR WAY. That will come in handy later on. At 6''1' you should be a center at your age, but in college you'll play pg/sg unless you get any taller. At your age, you really don't need to know alot because you'll be alot bigger than the other guys, a good turn around jumper, a hook shot and a nice drop step will be all you really need. Also, would'nt kill you to work on your defense, at any position if you want to make it to the next level you must play good defense, under the basket and on the perimiter. BTW..at your height and age, i would'nt play you at sf either, it would be a waist to have you on the perimeter when you could be under the basket getting rebounds.
