What best advice can you give to this prob of mine regarding a couple of dogs?

I just gave someone a couple of pups for her birthday. However, she has a problem taking care of them since she is working night shift in a call center, her sister and brother are both in school in the daytime, same with her mom who is at their small business shop almost the whole day (her dad is working abroad). This leaves their home empty most of the time and no one would be available to take care of the pups during the day.

The pups aren't newborn anymore. They've graduated from being noisy and active little ones and they've grown a little already. What advice can you give so that it would be easier for her to take care of them without the pups affecting each family member's responsibilities?

Hope for a lot of answers! Thanks in advance. =)

I sure hope you had permission to give these pups to your friend.
One puppy is a handful--two is twice the work.
Obviously people who have busy lives still have dogs--generally the breed of the dog is an important consideration.

Small lap dogs are better than a larger high energy dog when the owner is busy.
That being said--all puppys need care and attention or there will be behavioral issues down the road.

The best answer is to place these dogs with owners that have that time. I am assuming the rest of the family does not want to pitch in?

In order for her to keep these pups she needs a schedule and help from her family.
Puppys should be crate trained in the beginning but still there needs to be someone who can come home and let them out at reasonable intervals.

This can be done but only with help and there is no way two pups will not effect the other family members.

I don't think it is possible. Whoever is home first needs to deal with the pups and make sure they are taken care of. Poor guys... why did you give them to her?

puppies are like infants, they disrupt the whole family until they get the routine down and grow up. I think you made a mistake. I have bred my dogs before. I only sold to people who were home a lot. If you aren't home, you shouldn't have animals. Why not ask the family to let you place the dogs elsewhere, once they grow up, no one will want them. good luck

Maybe you should offer to watch the dogs while she is at work..that way you know that the dogs are being taken care of and you can manage their behavior and habbits...If the dogs dont make it out side and get play time, they are going to start becomming distructive. For example, getting into the trash, chewing on things, going to the bathroom in the house and so on. So this way you can watch them while she is gone and ensure they are being taken care of. Besides you brought them in to the world and so you should care about their well being.
