Have you ever been on TV????

Seems like there are some people who are on TV or in the news media often, some people go thru their whole lives without ever seeing their names in print or their faces staring at them from the local news. I have found myself in the former catagory, because I have been in business and done charity stuff and often found myself being interviewed. Plus I have done newpaper articles, etc. And I'm not camera shy, so It doesn't bother me. And never at a loss for words, lol!
Today my hubby who works for Home Depot and is their designated TV guy for the garden center, just came home for lunch and said he has to be on discussing generators. (we have a storm system coming in, and last year people died in our area because they didn't use generators responsibly during the January ice storm). How about you all? Do you shy away from the media, or are you out there, not because you seek it but because you tend to be tabbed as a spokesperson when nobody else wants to?

I don't think I photograph well at all, but everybody else seems to think I do OK.
Sometimes I cringe when I watch it, but I always do it again.

Yes, and my grand-kids were little and they seen me on TV, they were so proud and thought I was famous.

They didn't know it, but I was shaking in my shoes.

I worked in the field of domestic violence for 16 years and being the director, gave me no choice, it was all part of the position that I held.

Domestic Violence, is an area where most workers don't stay for long. It's not easy to see the abuse on a daily basis. Everyday, you deal with a case and you go home thinking you have seen it all, only to return to work the next day, and see the worst case scenario of abuse again.

I dedicated 16 years of my life, to do everything I could possibly think of, to help victims of abuse and also working through the Judicial System and how to deal with the abuser.

My face or name were in the newspaper more often than not, and no . . . since I'm not photogenic, I didn't like the snap shot but it really and truly wasn't about me. It was information about the victims and the abuser.

When I retired , I was the only domestic violence worker that had that many years and expertise in that field. I help write state policy many times throughout the years, as the laws changed and the abuse escalated.

I did have to do some writing for the news paper, thanking businesses and organizations for contributing to our cause and informing the public of events and fundraisers for victims of abuse.

When my children were in school, I was elected PTA President, that was my first introduction to public speaking.
It was the hardest thing I have ever done, being nervous and knowing I had to show my courage for my childrens benifit. Again it was not my choice, but my duty to represent the students and the school.

Been on TV a few times. Once on PBS doing. Once on a news broadcast in Houston during the International Festival. Both of these were for work. I did animal presentations.

The next one was for one of those early morning shows. I do not know which one it was. This was also for work but instead of animal presentations, I did some science demonstations.

hahaha it depends on what kind of media it is. sometimes I do it for the money but at most of the times its for the experience (referring to commercial ads) but I have only been randomly interviewed once during a cheerleading competition. That sudden camera pop out was a shock in the beginning and it only took me a few seconds to understand what was happening haha!

I fit quite nicely into your category so am not bothered. Is all part of working with the public.

Never been on TV, I shy away from this . Besides no one would want to see me on TV LOL.

I was first on TV on a kiddie show called the Captain and the kids. Since then , I have been on many times as a spokesperson for a local police department. Don't think they picked me because I'm photogenic, which I'm decidedly not.
I don't seek it out, but when it's part of my job I just accept it.

Just when I was in jail on the moniter.....just kidding!!!!LOL!!

No never been on TV and don't want to. My cousin was and she looked 10 pounds heavier!!!

I've been on TV too many times to count - part of the job for the last 15 years. It used to be a lot of fun! But, now that high definition TV and wide screens are everwhere, I'm not liking it as much! Add to that 15 years older, and ... well ... you get the picture! (pun intended)

i have never been on tv but i wouldnt shy away!

My sister and I recently had our television debut. We were vacationing in Arkansas and were interviewed while walking down the street by a local news channel. They were asking about how we choose which charities to donate to. That same day we returned home and were not able to see the broadcast, but our relatives in Arkansas sent us the link.

Yes... but it was long ago.

never been on tv but would'n't shy away either - i've got lots to say!

Yes

Interviewed by the Holiday programme for BBC in the South of France one summer.
Watched it later on in the year and found it excruciating to watch, never never never want to do it again.

No. I have never been on tv but my son has. He's a homicide detective & was on the local news station here in the south last year, shown escorting a murderer, to jail.

Yes... it was associated with
my job. We had a lot of events
in our community.

Yes, several times.

Never. Don't care to be either.

Does Buffalo Bob's "Howdy Doody"" show count ? That's about it . A couple of the rednecks down the street have the sheriffs office responding at least three times a week, maybe the show "COPS" will be in my neighborhood soon

My photography class was invited to appear on a program called "Photography is Fun" at the new CBS studios in the 50's. My teacher is well known for his website which displays his photos from around the world. It was a trip I will always remember and a great experience all around.

Yes, as a child Romper Room and The Popeye Show my mother idea but I had fun!
I have always been involved, I was involved in "The Civil Rights Movement. the School Board.....

I worked for Cesar Chavez, I befriended Denise Banks, Russel Means of AIM and was involved with Governor E."Jerry Brown" .........I do shy from the media more so now then before and even have gotten people angry with me ...I just can not do it anymore......I like and need to live a more quite life......

Seems most people don't mind and even enjoy the thought. I declined when I was asked once. The interviewer was surprised, I could tell. Some people just don't want it.

How nice you do good works for your fellow people. Now watching you on tv, that's a whole 'nuther story. I don't mind seeing that at all.

Yes, a few times on CNN news during Hurricane Andrew and local news here in Charleston for American Red Cross, fires, Katrina evacuees, tropical storm Ernesto, parades, the Charleston 9 Sofa Super Store fire etc.

Been in print and on TV a couple of times...all instances connected to work....The video was OK...don't like still pics of myself...and yep, enjoyed seeing my words in print!...but nowadays?....I like a more 'hidden' profile..LOL

no i havent. not sure if id want to, but if the opportunity came about... sure why not

I haven't been on TV, but my husband did a commercial for our local Glass Company. I was an extra in the movie "Eight Men Out" !!!!! Yep !!! Charlie Sheen, John Cusack, D.B. Sweeney, Christopher Lloyd ......

Yes, at Christmas time and in the news as part of my job. I don't like the way I look on TV and get real nervous! I don't like giving interviews for my job either as they print what they want and twist my words to make the story more interesting as the expense of our program. This was many years ago.

I did a bellydance with my troupe for a local "people around town" segment. I thought I looked pretty good at the time, but now (32 years later) I would probably think I looked like a goddess ! ha ha
It was 1975 sheesh... I'm old

I would do almost ANYTHING to get a hold of that video, too...

Yes I was in a few quick shots on the local news.Once at a very heated City Council meeting, then in the cities Christmas parade.I hate being photographed so not too many of them...

No and I ain't going to be on T.V.at least not voluntarily.

Oh goodness yes. As a political campaign consultant and spokesperson, as a television news show producer (and substitute host), as historian reporting on shipwrecks, as narrator of programs, as a community leader, yipes, the list is long. I'm not very impressed with that, however, it was just the job.
