I walked into the doors of Dwight Correctional Center with an 8th grade education and a terrible disposition. I used my time wisely. I reevaluated my outlook on life, obtained a G.E.D, as well as certificates in both Business Management and Computer Technology, totaling in around 70 accredited hours with a 4.0 G.P.A. I have struggled since my release and recently moved to Chicago for a fresh start. I want nothing more than a decent paycheck that I can be proud of. I am bright with unlimited potential but because of my previous lifestyle, I lack the resources with which to cement my peaceful future. Congratulations! Register with temp agencies and your county job service...such agencies can help match you with employers who are more interested in your qualifications than in you past missteps. It sounds like if you applied for the appropriate jobs, you would be hired. I would seriously consider hiring you, if I had any jobs open, and if I was in Chicago. If you are as open and up-front with potential employers as you have been with us, and if your credentials can be confirmed, I don't think they will hesitate to hire you.
